Protecting Mother Cow, Preserving Vedic Traditions
In the Vedas, the cow is revered as the Mother of the World, embodying nourishment, prosperity, and spiritual significance. Both the Rigveda and the Puranas extol the virtues of the cow, emphasizing its role in providing everything from milk, dung, and urine to spiritual growth and fulfillment. The proximity to cows is often associated with attaining Sadhana and Siddhis (spiritual accomplishments).
Modern science has now recognized the unique nutritional and environmental benefits of cow products such as milk, curd, ghee, urine, and dung. Scientists are exploring cow-based agriculture and lifestyles as potential solutions to global environmental and nutritional crises. By serving and protecting cows, we can promote happiness, peace, and health while creating new opportunities for employment.

Preserve Vedic Traditions, Protect Mother Cows
Cows have been the cornerstone of Indian families and agriculture since ancient times. They hold immense cultural, spiritual, and ecological value. According to Indian mythology, the cow is home to 33 crore deities, symbolizing faith, purity, and reverence. For centuries, the cow has been integral to Indian culture, playing a crucial role in the harmony between man and nature.
However, the respect and care for cows in India are declining. Many cows are abandoned and forced to roam the streets, scavenging for food in garbage dumps. Tragically, they often consume harmful materials such as plastic, toxic substances, and even sharp objects, leading to severe injuries and illness. The sight of a cow suffering from hunger and eating garbage is a stark reminder of the diminishing respect for this sacred animal.
Saving Cows, Securing the Future
The plight of cows reflects a broader issue of neglect and disregard for traditions that once upheld harmony and prosperity. Disrespecting or harming the cow is akin to threatening the foundation of human civilization. It is imperative that we recognize their pain and restore their rightful status in society.
Let us take a collective pledge to care for and protect mother cows. Small acts of kindness, such as helping a cow in distress or supporting initiatives for their welfare, can create a ripple effect of change. On special occasions like birthdays or memorial ceremonies, offering services to cows can foster social consciousness and contribute to their protection.
Serving and Protecting Mother Cows: Aranya Bharat Kamadhenu Charitable Trust
The Aranya Bharat Kamadhenu Charitable Trust has been at the forefront of cow protection in India. As one of the largest shelters for desi cows, it provides food, medical care, and shelter to abandoned, ailing, and stray cows and bulls. Many of these animals are rescued from harsh conditions, including being saved from slaughter.
Established in 2010 with just 11 cows in Haridwar, the Gaushala now shelters over 20,000 cows and bulls across multiple locations, with the numbers increasing daily. The organization is managed by dedicated saints and supported by hundreds of Gausewaks (cow caretakers), who work tirelessly to ensure the animals are cared for around the clock.
